RPF STAFF OF NCR SAVES ELDERLY GENTLEMAN FROM DEATH AT JHANSI STATION
On the 20th of May, 2018,two ‘jawaans’of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) deployed at Jhansi railway station ofNorth Central Railway saved a gentleman aged 72 years from a certain and gruesome death under the wheels of the Bilaspur Rajdhani Express, (number 12442). What happened was that the gentleman, who identified himself as Mr Case Telly, tried to board Bilaspur Rajdhani after it had started moving from platform number 1 of Jhansi Station. He was travelling from New Delhi to Nagpur and had apparently de-boarded the train at Jhansi station during its scheduled stoppage there. While he was off the train it started moving. In a bid to board the running train, the elderly gentleman slipped and started falling in the space between the platform and the coach that he was trying to board. However fortunately for him, when he slipped it was right in front of two personnel ofRailway Protection Force, Head Constable Shri Jai Prakash Yadav and ConstableKuldeep who were on duty at the platform at that time. Reacting immediately, both the jawaans caught hold of the falling gentleman and pulled him out from between the platform and the train to safety. It was due to their alacrity that not only was the life of the gentleman saved, but he also escaped completely unhurt. It is pertinent to mention here that the rescue posed a clear and present danger to both the jawaans as the train was moving and there was a very real possibility of the passenger falling down pulling one or both of them with him. The elderly gentleman later continued on his onward journey safe and sound. He thanked the RPF and NCR profusely for saving his life and limb and also promised never to attempt boarding a moving train again. The entire incident was recorded on camera. GM/NCR Shri M.C.Chauhan has expressed his appreciation for the swift rescue by Shri Jai Prakash Yadav and Shri Kuldeep and has announced that both the RPF personnel will be suitable awarded for their act of bravery and altruism which saved the life of Mr.Telly. Speaking on the incident he said that all the staff and officers of NCR are committed to ensuring the well-being, safety and security of passengers. The rescue at Jhansi station aptly illustrates that commitment.
