NCR getting ready to welcome pilgrims during Kumbh-2019:
All Construction Projects in full swing.
The North Central Railway (NCR), under the able guidance of its General Manager Shri M.C.Chauhan is getting prepared for the Kumbh Mela to be held at Allahabad during January-February 2019. All the construction works and preparatory arrangements are progressing at a fast pace and in a planned manner with coordinated efforts among various executing agencies namely North Central Railway, Northern Railway, North Eastern Railway and State civil authorities including Allahabad district administration.
The facilities and amenities at Allahabad Jn station are being upgraded and strengthened to facilitate pilgrims during their visit to largest human congregation at Allahabad in KumbhMela next year. Four enclosures are being developed in City Side of Allahabad Jn. The new enclosures will have almost double of the holding area (9050 Sq m) as compared to the area that was available for Kumbh 2013 (4600 sq m.). These enclosures will have various facilities for pilgrims viz. Shelters, Toilets & wash basins, Vending Stalls, water booths, ticket counters, Train Display Boards, LCD TV, mobile charging points, Public Address System and CCTVs etc.
A ‘Sky Walk’ 134 metre long connecting two foot over bridges of Allahabad Jn is under construction to facilitate movement of passengers on various platforms. This is targeted to be completed by October 2018. The work of construction of new Platform No 11 with platform shelter and washable apron on Allahabad Jn is progressing fast and it is expected to be completed by next month.
The 6 metre wide Line Shah Baba foot over bridge has already been widened by additional 6 metres (total 12 m width) and now it is open for public use. one more FOB (100.6mX6.1m) is also being constructed on Delhi end of Allahabad jn. and it is targeted to be completed by October 2018. To have smooth movement in city side station area,approach roads of all entry gates are being widened, along with construction ofentry gates. Around 200 additional RCC/Steel benches have been provided on various platforms and another 500 benches are planned to be provided before Kumbh Mela.
Subedarganj station is being developed as terminal station. Platform No 1 has been extended and one more platform no 4 along with new station building and PRS is targeted to be completed by October 2018.
Allahabad Chheoki station is being developed as satellite station and passenger facilities have been improved appreciably. A new 1240 metre long approach road with RCC drain has been constructed to provide better connectivity for passengers going to this station.
Railway administration is making all out efforts to ease road and rail movement in Allahabad city and adjoining areas. Eight Road over bridges are being constructed and 6 Road Under Bridges are being widened in the city. ROBs are being constructed at Pani Ki Tanki, Begum Bazar, Naini, Manauri, Bhirpur-Karchhana, Rambag, MNNIT and Phulpur. RUBs are being widened at CMP degree college, Kundan Guest House, Near Shivkuti-Teliyarganj, Daraganj and 2 at Sohbatiyabagh. All these works ,will be completed with in the stipulated targets.
While speaking about the NCRs’ efforts Shri M. C. Chauhan General Manager, North Central Railway says, “The works for Kumbh Mela are in full swing and will be completed in stipulated time frame. The projects are getting executed in a planned manner and the progress being monitored regularly at the highest level.” He further adds, “We are committed to transport the pilgrims safely and smoothly during Kumbh Mela next year.”
