NCR OBSERVES ‘RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS’: PAYS HOMAGE TO SARDAR VALLABH BHAI PATEL on HIS BIRTH ANNIVERSARYBY TAKING PLEDGE AND ORGANIZING MARCH PAST CUM RALLY, & 'RUN FOR UNITY' ACROSS IT'S TERRITORY
On 31st October, 2018, the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel-the Iron Man of India and the architect of the united India-was celebrated as ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) by the North Central Railway at its Headquarters at Prayagraj and across it's territorial boundaries. An oath taking ceremony along with march past cum rally and a 'run for unity' were organized on the occasion in the NCR headquarters in Subedarganj in Prayagraj. The program started with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Shri Arun Malik, Additional General Manager, North Central Railway followed by floral tributes to the image of Sardar Patel by AGM/NCR and Officers and Staff of North Central Railway. Thereafter, an oath of National Unity was administered to all present by AGM/NCR.
Speaking on the occasion AGM/NCR said that a feeling of National Unity amongst the citizens of a country is a prerequisite for its development. Sardar Patel single handedly achieved the integration of various princely states into India at the time of Independence-an achievement for which he was given the title of ‘Iron Man of India’. "Truly, Sardar Patel was the architect of modern-united India.” he added.
The march-past cum Rally were presented by personnel of the Railway Protection Force, members of St.John’s Ambulance Brigade, Scouts and Guides Organization and Sportspersons of NCR.
After the march past cum rally, a ‘run for unity’ was organized in ‘Railgaon’ colony, Subedarganj. The same was flagged off by AGM/NCR by showing a green flag. Railway Officers, staff and their family members participated enthusiastically in this a three kilometer ,‘run for unity’ carrying placards, and banners with slogans and messages relating to national unity. This run was organized in following three categories:
A) Sportspersons & staff
B) Ladies and
Shri Ramesh Kumar, Shri Pradeep Kumar & Hans Kumar Rai-all three RPF personnel-came 1st, 2nd & third repectively in the 1st category. Amongst ladies, Ms Shashi Prabha completed the race and in the 3rd category Shri Vijay Singh CCM/C&PS and Shri Gaurav Krishna Bansal CPRO/NCR stood 1st and 2nd respectively while the third place went jointly to Shri Rajesh Chaturvedi, CEE(Construction) & Shri Deepak Sinha, CSTE (Construction). Also present on this occasion were PCPO/NCR Ms Nisha Tewari, other PHODs and officers of NCR, their staff and family members in large numbers.
Similar Programmes were organized in all the three Divisions of NCR, i.e. Allahabad, Agra and Jhansi.
In Allahabad Division, the oath taking ceremoney and ' Run For Unity' were organized at the Divisional Headquarters in Allahabad as well as important stations like Kanpur, Mirzapur and Khurja. In Jhansi the events were organized at the divisional Headquarters at Jhansi along with Gwalior, while at Agra the same were organized at the Divisional Headquarters at Agra.
At all places, the celebrations of the National Unity Day saw enthusiastic participation by Railway Officers and staff alike in large numbers.
