Shri M. C. Chauhan has been appointed as new General Manager of North Central Railway, Allahabad w.e.f.28.02.2017. Presently he was working as General Manager Metro Railway, Kolkata along with holding theadditional charge ofGeneral Manager of North Central Railway since 01.02.2017. Shri Chauhan belongs to the 1979 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE). Prior to his posting as GM, Metro Railway, he was working as Adviser, Railway Electrification in Railway Board.

Shri Chauhan has varied experience of working in various posts of Indian Railways including Divisional Railway Manager, Mumbai, Central Railway from 2009 to 2011, during which 167 new suburban services were introduced and the 6th line was commissioned between LokmanyaTilak Terminus (LTT) and Thane Station.

He also worked as Executive Director, Railway Electrification and Director Power Supply, Railway Board. During his tenure in Railway Board, he was instrumental in introduction of metallised carbon strips and sanction of DC to AC conversion work in Mumbai area.

He has also received training in Computerised Freight Operations Information system with CANAC INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANT in Canada; Rolling Stock Modernisation in Japan and 3 Phase EMU in Germany.
