NORTH CENTRAL RAILWAY


INTRODUCTION



North Central Railway, the workhorse of Indian Railways, spreads across three divisions viz Allahabad, Jhansi and Agra. It extends from Ghaziabad (excl.) in the north to Mughalsarai (excl.) in the east on New Delhi-Howrah trunk route and from Palwal (excl.) to Bina (excl.) on New Delhi Mumbai/Chennai corridor.


North Central Railway extends over four states of India-Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan with about 3519 route km. rail network comprising predominately, double line- electrified sections.


Comprising 399 stations on BG, MG and NG (Dholpur-Sirmutra-Tantpur section and Gwalior-Sheopurklan section) systems, this zone service passenger traffic corridors cross country

PASSENGER SERVICE

At present 692 Mail/Express and 256 passenger trains are running over North Central Railway. These include state of art Gatimaan, Superfast, Shatabdi, Duranto, Garibrath, Yuva, Jan Shatabdi, Premium, Hamsafar and Rajdhani services which have become a byword for comfort and customer delight. 

FREIGHT TRAFFIC


Freight traffic density on this Railway is one of the highest in Indian Railway. Track capacity utilization on trunk route viz Ghaziabad-Mughalsarai from 121% to 157% and palwal-Bina ranges from 106% to 150%.
