2.0Pending accident inquiry reports – 02

I) Derailment of 14 coaches of train no.19321 Indore-Rajendranagar Express between PHN-    MLS section on 20-11-16. CRS enquiry is in progress. Final report is awaited.

ii) Fire on SLR no. 05741 of train no. 14624 UP Patalkot Express between SIKD-MRA     stations on 25-01-17. JAG officers enquiry has been completed. Provisional findings    accepted. Forensic report awaited.

3.0Pending DAR cases in consequential train accidents – Nil.

5.0Steps for Improvement of Safety

  1. Night & footplate inspection by officers – Night inspection and footplate inspections at officers’ level are regularly being conducted and position is being sent to GM/NCR every fortnightly.
  2. Public Awareness Campaign -Division is conducting regular public awareness campaign on safety precautions to be taken by road users while crossing unmanned and manned LC gates, prevention of carriage of inflammable materials in train, prevention of cattle run over cases due to which derailment can occur, prevention of roof top travelling in trains etc.

i)Nukkad NatakFromthe period April 16 to Feb 17 nukkad Nataks have been organised at following places in JHS division. during Rail Pakhwadafrom 26-05-16 to 09-06-16 at various places in JHS division like JHS, CKTD, MKP, BNDA, LAR, DAA, DBA, BAB, OR, GTM, BZM, SBL, MRA & GWL etc. During Swachh Bharat Abhiyanit has been organised from 02-10-16 and 11-10-16 at various stations over JHS Division.

ii)Awareness through Mobile Video VanPublicity through Mobile Van was done from 11-06-16 to 20-06-16 in MKP-BNDA, BNDA-BZM, BZM-ORAI, ORAI local, ORAI-JHS, JHS-LAR, LAR local, JHS local, JHS-MRPR, JHS-GWL, GWL local, GWL NG & GWL-DHO section of JHS division.

  1. Safety Seminar:Safety seminars have been held regularly every month at different stations on the division. Seminars have been conducted at TBT, MKP, LAR, GWL, SRJ, ORAI, JHS, GWL, BNDA, SBL, RGU, PHN, JHS & CKTD for creating safety awareness & counselling of staff regarding instructions issued by the Railway Board and HQ in reference to recent accidents, dos & don’ts, safety precautions etc.
  2. Counseling of road users - Safety department is regularly counseling road users and the villagers residing near railway track regarding safety precautions. Important topics like safety precautions while crossing L.Xing gates, avoid cattle grazing near railway track, avoid roof traveling, traveling on foot board, non- carrying inflammable materials during journey etc. are being covered.
  3. Ambush Checks - Ambush checks have been conducted regularly by Safety branch at LC gates, IBHs and stations, resulting into increased alertness among the loco crew, guards and train passing staff. Speed analysis of trains is being done to check the over speeding tendency of Loco Pilots.
  4. Safety Drives - Regular Safety drives have been launched in the division covering important aspects of train working covering all the departments for counseling of staff. Also, deficiencies noted are being advised to concerned department for corrective action.
  5. Publication of Seasonal booklets – Safety department has collected Summer, Monsoon and Winter instructions from various departments and has published in a form of booklet. It has been distributed to all the departments for ready reference during onset of seasons for reducing equipments failures, which may result into unsafe train operation.
  6. Availability of infrastructure - LC gates of the division are being inspected by Safety department for checking availability of infrastructure facilities at LC gates. Shortcomings noticed have been advised to concerned branches for taking corrective actions.
  7. Awards - In order to encourage the staff to be vigilant and safety conscious, provision of award has been made. In the year 2016-17, a total of Rs. 18,050/- has been distributed as cash award to staff for detecting and reporting unusual, which are potentially dangerous from accident point of view.
