Ms. Soniya Kushwaha, serving in North Central Railway, and a dedicated athlete of the North Central Railway, has scripted history by successfully summiting Mount Kun (23,200 ft / 7,077 m) in the rugged Zanskar Range of Ladakh.
It is worth noting that on August 21, 2026, a solemn flag-off ceremony was organized at the NCR Headquarters, where General Manager Shri Naresh Pal Singh handed over the National Flag to Ms. Kushwaha and flagged off her expedition in the presence of Principal Heads of Departments and NCRSA office bearers.
Following the flag-off, Ms. Kushwaha commenced her grueling climb on August 29, 2026, and successfully reached the summit on September 7, 2026, navigating extreme ice and glacier challenges. With this feat, she stands out as a pioneering woman mountaineer representing Indian Railways at such formidable altitudes.
Upon her triumphant return, she was accorded a vibrant and affectionate welcome by railway officials, sports fraternity, and well-wishers.
On this milestone achievement, General Manager Shri Naresh Pal Singh, along with NCRSA President Shri Shashi Prakash Dwivedi, Vice President Shri B.P. Singh, General Secretary Shri Gautam Jain, and the entire North Central Railway fraternity extended their heartiest congratulations and best wishes.
