North Central Railway Shines at Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar 2025; GM Receives Two Efficiency Shields from Hon'ble Rail Minister

The North Central Railway (NCR) marked a significant milestone today at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi, as it was honored with top organizational and individual awards during the Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar – 2025 ceremony. The awards, which represent the highest annual honor in Indian Railways, were presented by the Hon’ble Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw.
In a proud moment for the zone, Shri Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager/NCR, along with Shri Satendra Kumar, PCSTE/NCR, received two prestigious organizational trophies: the Telecommunication Efficiency Shield and the Signal Efficiency Shield. These awards recognize NCR’s outstanding performance in maintaining high safety standards and implementing cutting-edge communication technology across its network.

Individual Feats of Excellence

The ceremony also celebrated the exceptional contributions of five NCR personnel whose dedication has set new benchmarks for the Indian Railways:
Shri Ashutosh Sharma, Dy Financial Advisor, & Chief Accounts Officer was honored for his masterful financial management during the high-pressure Mahakumbh operations. His meticulous scrutiny of works totaling nearly ₹50 Crore led to the successful recovery of approximately ₹7 Crore, showcasing his commitment to fiscal integrity and organizational efficiency.
In the realm of infrastructure, Shri Kush Gupta, Deputy Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer (Dy. CSTE), was recognized under the category of “Completion of Projects in Record Time.” His professional expertise and leadership were instrumental in executing critical signal and telecom projects ahead of schedule, significantly enhancing the zone's operational capacity.
The technical brilliance of Shri Dhananjay Kumar Singh, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (Prayagraj), was highlighted for his strategic planning during the Mahakumbh. He managed the maintenance of over 150 rakes across multiple locations including Jhansi, Gwalior, and Agra. His comprehensive "zero-detachment" strategy ensured that no coach was removed for maintenance during the massive event, ensuring seamless passenger travel.
Safety and alertness remained at the forefront of the honors. Ms. Sushmita, Senior Assistant Loco Pilot (Prayagraj Lobby), received the award for her heroic presence of mind while operating the Banaras – Agra Cantt Vande Bharat Express. By identifying a delayed green signal at a road-traffic interface and taking immediate emergency action, she successfully averted a major accident.
Similarly, the dedication of the "foot soldiers" of the railway was recognized through Shri Parvat Ji, a Trackman from Jhansi. During a routine patrol under sensitive circumstances, he detected unsafe track conditions and alerted the administration immediately, preventing a potential untoward incident through his unwavering vigilance.
The Ati Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar continues to serve as a powerful motivator for the railway workforce. The achievements of North Central Railway this year stand as a testament to the zone's culture of professionalism and its mission to provide a safer, faster, and more efficient transport experience for the nation.
