North Central Railway Achieves New Milestone in Yard Surveillance with High-Mast CCTV Innovation at Prayagraj
Under the visionary guidance of Shri Naresh Pal Singh, General Manager of North Central Railway, and the leadership of DRM Prayagraj, the Electrical General Department has successfully pioneered a strategic enhancement in infrastructure monitoring. In a first-of-its-kind initiative for the division, a high-definition CCTV surveillance system has been commissioned at the apex of a 20-metre Electric High Mast located at the Electric Trip Shed, Prayagraj.
This initiative marks a shift toward "Panoramic Surveillance," moving away from traditional low-level monitoring which often suffers from physical obstructions. By utilizing the existing 20-metre high-mast infrastructure, the division has achieved an expansive, bird’s-eye view of one of its most operationally dense zones.
The installation was completed with meticulous adherence to structural and electrical safety protocols. Despite the complexity of working at height within a functional yard, the project was executed without any disruption to locomotive movements or ongoing maintenance schedules.
The newly installed system is equipped with industrial-grade technology designed to withstand the rigors of an outdoor railway environment.
Superior Optics: Features a 1/2.8” Progressive Scan CMOS sensor providing Full HD (1920 × 1080) resolution.
Precision Monitoring: Equipped with 32× Optical Zoom, 16X Digital zoom and 360° Endless Pan Rotation, allowing operators to zoom in on specific track lines or maintenance activities with extreme clarity.
All-Weather Performance: Built to IP66 standards with TVS 4000V Lightning Protection and surge protection to ensure 24/7 functionality during monsoons and electrical storms.
Intelligent Analytics: The system includes motion detection, video tampering alerts, and ultra-low light capability for high-quality night-time supervision.
The elevated positioning of the camera significantly reduces blind spots, providing real-time monitoring of Locomotive Berthing Areas: Ensuring precise placement and movement & Maintenance Zones: Enhancing the safety of personnel working on the ground along with Asset Security: Deterring unauthorized access and safeguarding critical railway infrastructure.
This enhancement reflects North Central Railway’s commitment to integrating modern technology with existing infrastructure. This successful commissioning reinforces Prayagraj Division’s status as a leader in technological upgradation and safety reinforcement across the Indian Railways network.
