The drive launched by NCR to check unauthorized vending and overcharging at the stations of North Central Railway (NCR) under the guidance of its GM, Shri M.C.Chauhanis proving to be a mega success. Till the time of writing of this news, 818 persons have been arrested by the Railway Protection Force over NCR on charges of unauthorized vending under section 144 of Railway Act, which prohibits unauthorized vending in trains/railway premises and prescribes a penalty of upto Rs: 2000 or imprisonment upto one year or both for culprits found to be involved in this crime. An amount of 7,98,330/- ( Rs: Seven Lakh, Ninety Eight Thousand, Three Hundred and Thirty Three) has been realized from the unauthorized vendors nabbed. The drive was launched by NCR keeping in mind the summer season and the summer vacations of schools, which witness families packing their bags and heading out for holiday trips. “We recognize unauthorized vending as a menace and will go the extra mile to curb it” said GM/NCR.“The number of unauthorized vendors who have been caught by the RPF demonstrates our seriousness towards curbing unauthorized vending over NCR” he added. While NCR is making all efforts to curb unauthorized vending, the passengers also have to become partners in this effort. A simple act of refusing to buy eatables from unauthorized vendors can go a long way in ridding the railways of this menace.
