PUNCTUALITY/SAFETY MEETING HELD IN NCR HQ
Today, on the 28th May, 2018, weekly punctuality/safety meeting was held in the Office of GM/NCR in the Vindhya Conference Hall, Chaired by GM/NCR Shri M.C. Chauhan. Present in the meeting were all the PHODs/CHODs of NCR and the DRMs of the three Divisions of NCR-Allahabad, Agra and Jhansi who participated via videoconferencing.
The meeting began with GM/NCR emphasizing on speeding up the track renewal works. He said that there should proper maintenance of tracks including yards and loop lines on stations. GM advised that all the fire extinguishers available in trains and other installations should be checked, so that in case of emergency it could be utilized. He also laid emphasis on proper checking of wiring and electrical fittings during primary and secondary maintenance of trains. He also desired that Station masters, Porters and Gateman should be sensitized to become more vigilant and alert towards passing trains. He said the hot weather patrolling should continue and proper track maintenance be ensured considering high temperature. He instructed the officers to carry out awareness campaign using mobile video van, in regions nearby the sections prone to trespassing and cattle run over. He said mission zero SPAD was very successful last year, so the efforts to maintain it, should continue in Mission Mode.GM/NCR said that unmanned level crossings should be eliminated in targeted time frame. He said that the surprise checks especially during night be conducted to check alertness off staff. While discussing about the mission zero grievances, Shri Chauhan said that the grievances of running staff be resolved on priority basis. It should be done in time bound manner and grievance redressal procedures be displayed in lobbies and running rooms. He also emphasized on the need to be more sensitive, towards grievances of trackmen.He further said that the effectiveness of NIRAKARAN the Staff Grievance & Facilitation Centres should also be checked.
He said that in order to improve punctuality, a multipronged approach consisting of enhanced operational monitoring, reduction in asset failures, reduction in response time to asset failures and reduction in external factors adversely affecting punctuality-in particular unwarranted Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) and Cattle Run Over (CRO) cases. He advised that a joint action by Commercial and Security staff to nab the culprits indulging in alarm chain pulling will be effective. He also desired that throughput enhancement works like electronic interlocking works at various stations and other modernization works should be expedited. He also instructed to work on pre monsoonal precautions. He desired that based on previous experiences, proper drainage should be made in yards along with maintenance of relay rooms.
General Manager today appreciated the swift restoration work carried out by ART Tundla and Agra during goods train derailment at Firozabad yesterday and announced awards for them. A poster for safety precautions at level crossings was also released on the occasion. Reducing Loco Failures, checking brake binding cases, reducing signal failures were the other subjects that came up for discussion.
