on 07 June 2018 various events were organised o­n the occassion of International Level Crossing Awareness Day over  North Central Railway . o­n this occasion, the General Manager, North Central Railway Shri M.C. Chauhan released safety stickers, prepared for cars and other vehicles in a program organized at North Central Railway Headquarters. Speaking o­n the occasion, General Manager Shri. MC Chauhan urged all the road users to "take special precautions while crossing railway tracks o­n railway level crossings and follow all the safety rules in this regard."

            He said that railway administration is taking many steps in view of the safety at level crossings,. He informed that  during 2017-18, NCR has eliminated 105 level crossings over North Central Railway including 75 unmanned and 30 manned crossings. 'Gate Mitras' have been deployed at all the residual 79 unmanned level crossings and it has been targeted to eliminate all these crossings by September 2018. Surprise Inspections especially  night inspections are being carried out to ensure presence of gate mitras at UMLCs and alertness of gateman at manned level crossings. In addition, 2 gates have also been interlocked. It is also pertinent to mention here that a o­ne-month awareness campaign is i progress since 15th, May, 2018, as per the instructions of General Manager, North Central Railway, o­n the occasion of ILCAD.

            An awareness campaign was also carried out in the leader ship of Chief Safety Officer, North Central railway at level crossing no-34 at Chheoki Allahabad. Dy. Chief Safety officer and Senior Divisional Safety Officer were also present o­n the occasion along with other officers and staff.

            International Level Crossing Awareness Day is organised every year by International Union of Railways. In the current year, it was decided that International Level Crossing Awareness Day will be organised o­n 07thJune 2018. o­n this occasion, Road Shows and Awareness Rally were organized by Scouts & Guides volunteers, civil defence personnel and other railway staff at various places like stations, markets, level crossings etc in the North Central Railway in order to educate road users about safety precautions to be followed at level crossings. In order to sensitize loco pilots, safety seminars were organized at various places. Awareness drive is also being organized over NCR using various mediums like newspapers, posters, leaflets etc. Railway administration urges everyone that act safely at level crossings and please ensure that the train is not coming, before crossing the railway tracks o­n any unmanned level crossing.
