NCR GEARS UP FOR MONSOON: GM/NCR CONDUCTS WINDOW TRAILING INSPECTION OF TUNDLA-GHAZIABAD SECTION
In order to take stock of the preparedness for the ensuing monsoon season, GM/NCR Shri M.C. Chauhan conducted a window trailing inspection of the operationally sensitive Tundla-Ghaziabad section. Window-trailing inspection is a specialized inspection in the Indian Railways in which the track and its surrounding installations like signals, Over Head Equipment (OHE), platforms etc are inspected from the rear window of an inspection car attached to a moving train. During the inspection, important parameters like cleanliness and overall condition of stations falling en-route, riding quality of the train-especially on points and crossings, progress of work of Dedicated Freight Corridor, Improvement in Track Geometry Index (TGI), Condition of level crossing gates en-route, and preparations for the monsoon season were observed by the GM/NCR. In the beginning GM/NCR inspected Tundla station where he inspected the passenger amenities, waiting rooms, platforms, toilets, PRS, Booking Office, Catering Units, Cleanliness, and Circulating Area. At the station GM advised that the drainage of the yard next to platform number one should be improved in view of the ensuing monsoon season. He also advised to expedite the work of the new platform being constructed next to Platform number one. In the window trailing inspection GM advised that wherever the height of the embankment of the Dedicated Freight Corridor is higher than the running line, proper drainage should be provided so as to prevent waterlogging on the running lines. GM also advised that in case it was not possible to provide such drainage in one-week, high capacity pumps may be installed so that dewatering of the running track could be done promptly in case of flooding of track. GM gave instructions to improve ballast at sites where Ballast Cleaning Machine (BCM) is working. It was also decided that two block huts (kamalpur and Gangraul), which have become redundant after construction of third line, would be removed and work of construction of RUBs under Level Crossings should be expedited. Finally, GM advised that in view of the monsoon the overall drainage on the side of the track should be cleaned to prevent the failure of track circuits due to build-up of water on tracks.
