Former Member (Traffic), Railway Board joins as Member (Administrative), Central Administrative Tribunal, Allahabad Bench
Mr. Mohd. Jamshed who belongs to the Indian Railway Traffic Service (Civil Services Examination 1980 batch) has joined CAT/Allahabad as Member (Administartive). Before joining CAT, he served as Member (Traffic) & Ex-officio Secretary to Govt. of India, Ministry of Railways till his superannuation on 30th June, 2018.
In his distinguished career spanning over 37 years, Mr. Jamshed has served on various important assignments on Indian Railways including General Manager North Frontier Railways, Additional Member Railway Board, Chief Operations Manager, Executive Director, Divisional Railway Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer etc.
During his tenure as Member (Traffic) Railway Board, Mr. Jamshed is credited with a large number of reforms and transformative steps initiated towards higher growth and revenue generation for Indian Railways. As Member (Traffic), he steered Indian Railways towards achieving many milestone. He managed & administered entire train operations, freight and passenger business and served in important positions involving General Management, Administration, Safety, Marketing, Vigilance, Planning and International Cooperation etc.
Mr. Jamshed has also served in a joint venture of Indian Railways and was also the Regional Consultant for the Asian Development Bank. He has been trained in USA, HEC Paris, Netherlands and Italy. He has also led Indian Railways delegations abroad including US, France, Italy, Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Japan, Australia, Iran and Singapore etc. He was also closely associated with development of Trans-Asian Railway Project in coordination with UNESCAP. Mr. Jamshed has authored a number of Government of India documents including South Asia Multimodal Transport Study, Traffic Optimisation Study, Safety and Corporate Plans for Indian Railways.
Mr. Jamshed is a Gold medallist of Allahabad University in his Masters’ Degree and had a brief stint as Lecturer before joining the Civil Services in the year 1980. Mr. Jamshed brings with him huge experience of working with Government of India, in various capacities.
