Shri Rajiv Chaudhry General Manager inspected Allahabad Jn: Took stock of o­ngoing Kumbh Mela preparations

Shri Rajiv Chaudhary, General Manager, North Central Railway inspected Allahabad Junction station, o­n 27.09.2018, to review the progress of o­ngoing infrastructural works as part of preparations for ensuing Kumbh Mela 2019. He advised that all the passenger facilities related works should be completed in time and suggested necessary improvements during inspection.

General Manager’s inspection started with a briefing about the preparations for Kumbh Mela-2019 at Allahabad Junction station, with the help of a detailed map, by DRM & ADRM/Allahabad.He was briefed in detail of the o­ngoing works and available facilities at Allahabad Junction as well as the planning being done for crowd management at the station. In the 2nd leg of Kumbh Mela related inspection today, GM/NCR inspected the passenger shelters, being constructed at Allahabad Junction for pilgrims. All the shelters will have unreserved ticket counters, enquiry counters, train timing display boards, public address system, catering stall, drinking water, adequate lighting, ventilation and toilets& sanitation facilities.

Thereafter, in the 3rd leg of his inspection at Allahabad Junction, GM/NCR inspected the under-construction 'Skywalks' at Allahabad Junction Station. These Skywalks will link together foot over bridges, thus providing better connectivity and improved mobility for passengers& will prevent crowd from getting accumulated o­n any single Foot Over Bridge.

In the 4th leg, Shri Chaudhry inspected the Civil Lines side circulating area of station and also saw the under construction (new) platform number 11. This new platform will greatly help in better crowd management and evacuation of pilgrims during Kumbh Mela. He advised the officers to expedite the work so that it is completed in stipulated time frame.

Shri Arun Malik, Additional General Manager, Shri Amitabh, DRM/Allahabad, Shri M.N. Ojha, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Shri O.P.Singh, Principal Chief engineer, Shri Mukesh Garg, Chief Administrative Offcier/Construction , Shri A.K.Dwivedi, ADRM and other officers of Headquarter and Allahabad Division remained present during the inspection.
