Government e-Marketplace (GeM) Conference held

A conference & training programme o­n ‘Government e-Marketplace’ (GeM) Conference, is in progress in the North Central Railway Headquarter in Subedarganj, Allahabad. On 03.10.2018 the conference was chaired by Shri Rajiv Chaudhry, General Manager of NCR. The conference/training programme is being organized under drive for ‘National Mission o­n GeM’. In the conference, Procedure of procurement through GeM and its advantages were detailed by Principal Chief Materials Manager Shri P N Pandey and GeM Facilitator Shri Manender Singh. Addl. General Manager, Principal Head of Departments and other senior officers of NCR participated and interacted with GeM Business Facilitator, o­n various procedural aspects and concerning issues of Railway users. Shri Rajiv Chaudhry, General Manager released a pamphlet o­n this occasion, containing various useful information about GeM and conveying the very purpose and concept of GeM.

While speaking o­n the occasion, GM/NCRsaid that reform in Public Procurement is o­ne of the top priorities of the Government. GeM as a national portal for public procurement, not o­nly brings in transparency and efficiency but also encourages participation of small and medium enterprises, new entrepreneurs and starts up in government purchases. It will also result in significant cost saving. He further emphasized that all of us should synchronize our efforts towards making this National Mission a grand success. “Proper use of GeM should be done to obtain the maximum efficiency & quality, while safeguarding the financial interest of the railways” he added.
