GM/NCR HOLDS MEETING WITH THE PASSENGER SERVICES COMMITTEE

A meeting was held in North Central Railway Headquarters between GM/NCR and Passenger Services Committee (PSC) of the Railway Board, Chaired by GM/NCR Shri Rajiv Chaudhry. The PSC was headed by Chairman PSC, Shri Ramesh Chandra Ratn. The meeting began with GM/NCR extending a welcome to the Chairman and Members of PSC. After the welcome, a presentation o­n the preparations of the Indian Railways for the ensuing Kumbh Mela-2019, scheduled to be organized in Prayagraj from January 2019, was given to the PSC by ADRM (OP)/ALD Shri Anil Kumar Dwivedi. In the presentation it was informed to the PSC that a grand total of 1762 special trains are proposed to be run during the entire duration of the Kumbh Mela (972 outwards &790 inwards). In the presentation a detailed overview about the infrastructure-enhancement works done by the Railways in the Prayagraj District-at a total cost of Rs 700 Crore-was also given to the PSC. The PSC appreciated the infrastructural works done by the Railways and also the detailed plans that have been drawn up for running the special trains and also for ensuring the easy availability of tickets-in particular unreserved tickets-to the passengers and devotees coming to Prayagraj during the period of the Kumbh Mela. Under the technological initiatives, the PSC was informed about the recently launched ‘Rail Kumbh Seva 2019’ mobile application as well as the ‘UTS o­n mobile app’. Both the apps drew great appreciation from the PSC, which suggested that both these applications should be publicised to the maximum.The PSC suggested the widespread use of pamphlets and stickers to create awareness about the Rail Kumbh Seva App and UTS o­n Mobile app. The PSC also appreciated the initiative of Computer Simulation of crowd movement at the railway stations, which has been done by the NCR for better planning and preparedness for handling the crowds during the Kumbh Mela. Speaking o­n the medical facilities, GM/NCR informed the PSC that 30 additional railway doctors had been requisitioned from other zonal railways who would be used to round the clock presence of Doctors in all the passenger enclosures would be ensured. This information was welcomed by the PSC with appreciation.

Chairman PSC expressed his deep appreciation for the preparations made by the Railways for the effective management of the Kumbh Mela and the coordination and cooperation extended to the PSC by the officers and staff of NCR during their stay in Prayagraj and inspections of the railway stations located in the district. The PSC suggested that slogans should be given and popularized by the Railways o­n Cleanliness (Swachhta) and ‘NamamiGangey’.The meeting ended with the PSC expressing their confidence in the ability of the Railways and conveying its good wishes to GM/NCR and his team of officers for effective and rewarding management of Kumbh Mela-2019. PHODs of NCR and DRM Allahabad remained present in the meeting. Vote of thanks was given by ADRM (OP)/ALD, Shri Anil Kumar Dwivedi. The meeting proceeded and concluded in a cordial and mutually enriching atmosphere.
