North Central Railway to invest Rs 4147 Crores in Financial year 2020-21 on critical infrastructure works
GM NCR & NR Sri Rajiv Chaudhry reviewed proposals for new sanction of works related to traffic facilities, passenger amenities, level crossing safety, ROB/RUB, staff amenities, signaling etc.
Works of critical nature and likely to be completed in current financial year shall get priority in fund allocation
Important works related to infrastructural development for improved train operation, passenger amenities, freight loading, staff amenities etc. on Indian Railways are sanctioned at three levels i.e. Railway Board, General Manager and Divisional level.On 22.05.2020 a meeting was held in North Central Railway HQ office to decide new works which will be considered for sanction at the level of General Manger . This meeting chaired by GM NCR & NR Sri Rajiv Chaudhry was attended by PHODs of all departments while DRMs with their team from Prayagraj , Jhansi and Agra joined through video conference .
In the current financial year 2020-21 NorthCentral Railway has been given budget allotment of Rs 4147.23 crores for execution of ongoing works as well as for sanctioning new works for improved infrastructural facilities. Of total budget allotment highest portion of Rs. 1600 crores shall be spent on various ongoing track doubling projects which are very important for increasing train handling capacity,speed, punctuality etc . Followed by this, NCR have allocatedRs 874 crores for improving passenger amenities at different stations over its territory.Other major heads are safety related track renewal works with allocation of Rs 502 crores , level crossing safety/ ROB/ RUB works with allocationRs 482 crores , Signaling works Rs 170 crores ,Gauge conversion Rs 150 Crores ,traffic facilities Rs 130 crores etc. for current financial year 2020-21.
Keeping in view the current prevailing conditions due to Covid-19 and fund availability, NCR has decided to sanction only those new works which are very critical for its functioning and which can be completed quickly to get the desired output. GM Sri Rajiv Chaudhry reviewed all proposals of new works received from three divisions and finalized list of important works in consultation with PHODs and Divisions worth approximately Rs 40 crores.
GM Sri Chaudhry also advised all executives toexercise utmost diligence and allocation of available resources to works which are most critical and can be completed within ongoing financial year.
Meeting was convened by Sri Shrad Mehta Principal Chief Engineer North Central Railway.Norms of hygiene and social distancing were strictly followed in this meeting.
