North Central Railway continues the fight against COVID-19 with excellent backend support to frontline corona warriors.
North Central Railways frontline workforce is continuing and upscaling battle against Covid-19 by running Freight, Parcel, Shramik and special trains, maintenance of assets, project execution, creating medical infrastructure for Covid-19 , helping needy and weaker section of society under this unprecedented adverse situation . These frontline railway warriors have been lent essential support from their back-end counterparts working in offices. These office staff are working day and night in offices or from home through online medium to look after the welfare and requirements of about 60000 employees of NCR .
Official from Finance and personal departments ensured that salary of all employees of NCR was passed for March, April & May 2020 along with other allowances, arrears, new pay fixation etc. and credited to their accounts in time. Besides serving employee, settlement payment and other benefits were provided to 471 employees superannuated from railway service between March to May, 2020. Pension Payment Orders were made available to retiring employee as well as to drawee banks either electronically or by sending special messenger to their home and banks to ensure timely payment of pension and other retirement dues .
As commitment for timely payments to contractors and suppliers etc. 1519 bills amounting to Rs. 342.18 Crores were passed in the period of 25.03.20 to 31.05.20. A joint procedure order for bill passing based on electronic copy of bill was also issued on NCR to expedite payment to our valued contractors and suppliers during lockdown.
Official of finance department ensured that any proposal related to Covid-19 is cleared on top priority and record 129 such proposals were cleared on a single day to provide impetus to NCR’s fight against Covid-19. All payments related to Covid-19 items such as conversion of isolation coaches, PPE and other equipment, Covid-19 medicines, sanitation and other misc. activities amounting to Rs 370.35 lakhs have also been passed in May-2020.
