Originating freight loading of North Central Railway crossed one Crore tonnes mark
Originating freight revenue of Rs 151 Crores earned in November-2020
On 01.12.2020, Chairman & CEO Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav and other members of Railway Board reviewed position of safety, freight and parcel loading, goods shed functioning and other important items through video conference held with General Managers of zonalRailways and Divisional Railway managers.
At the outset, CRB & CEO Shri Yadav said that safety is our first and foremost concern and we have to remained focused to safety in train operations. He particularly stressed on safety at manned level crossings and proper maintenance of point and crossing zones of track. He congratulated zonal railways for improved freight loading performance in November-2020 and asked zones and divisions to keep this momentum going. Shri Yadav also mentioned that use of artificial intelligence and data analysis will play a crucial role in future maintenance and operation of Railways and advised General Managers to ensure that adequate officials from each zone are trained in this field for which online training programs are being organised by Railway Board.
During the video conference General Manager Shri Rajiv Chaudhry apprised Railway Board that North Central Railway is monitoring mobility of trains continuously and achieved highest ever interchange of 532 trains on 30.11.2020 surpassing previous best of 515 trains interchanged on 25.03.2020. He also informed Railway Board on steps taken to improve conditions of goods shed and marketing efforts taken to boost originating freight loading further.
On the front of freight loading, North Central Railway has achieved many important milestones in November-2020. During the month, originating freight loading of North Central Railway crossed one crore tonnes mark and so far, total 101.6 Lakhs tonnes freight has been loaded in current financial year. With positive loading performance since last 06 months, NCR has surpassed last year loading of 100.6 Lakhs tonnes freight loaded till November in the last financial year. In November 2020, North Central Railway has loaded 14.8 Lakhs tonnes freight which is 3.5 lakhs tonnes more than the loading in November-2019 and earned originating freight revenue of Rs 151 Cr registering growth of 69.5% over the freight revenue of Rs 89.12 Crores of November-2019. This performance of North Central is particularly significant keeping in view fewer working days in November-20 as compared to last year on account of Diwali and Chatth festivals. As on 30thNovember 2020 originating freight revenue of NCR in current financial year is Rs 1075 Crores registering growth of Rs 196 Crores over freight revenue of 879 Crores in same period of last financial year.
General Manager Shri Rajiv Chaudhry congratulated officials from divisions and HQ for this sustained positive growth in freight loading and revenue.
