North Central Railway won five medals in the recently concluded 86th All India Railway Athletic Championship held at Calcutta. The team of North Central Railway consisted of 18 players, out of which 5 players won medals. The overall medal tally of North Central Railway was 1 Silver and 4 Bronze.
In hammer throw, Gurjinder won silver and Ejaz Ahmed won bronze. Manoj Yadav won bronze in Javelin throw, Nandini Gupta won bronze in 3000m Steeple Chase and Rishu Singh won bronze in 1500m race.
Apart from this, Krishnanand Tripathi - Javelin Throw, Satendra - Shot Put, Rajkumar Singh - got fourth place in 10000 meters race.
The team called on General Manager North Central Railway Shri Pramod Kumar in his office and apprised him about the achievements. General Manager inquired about each and every player of the athletic team and congratulated them for the wonderful achievements and motivated them for the better performance ahead.
General Manager also appreciated the team's coach Ragini Singh and team manager Diwakar Shukla and motivated them for better team management and coaching.
General manager also praised Shri Virendra Pal, who as a part of Indian Railway Cross Country team won silver medal in 56th national Cross Country Champuionship held in Kohima.
On this occasion The President of North Central Railway Sports Association Shri Sharad Mehta, General Secretary Shri Nitin Garg, Secretary/General Manager Shri Ajay Singh, other officials of North Central Railway Sports Association and members of North Central Railway Sports Cell Shri Dinesh Yadav and Maqbool Ahmed were present.
