Juhi Non Interlocking Work- remodelling to eradicate bottlenecks Remodelling work of Juhi Commenced today

Juhi yard Kanpur is the centre point of Prayagraj Division where multiple activities related to train operations are carried out simultaneously like passage of through (non-stopping) trains, stoppage of mail/express/passenger trains at Govindpuri, engine movement to/from loco shed, connectivity to Kanpur Central & Kanpur Loco cabin  in East, Panki & Bhimsen in west & Kanpur Anwarganj in North. It is a nominated point for examination of goods train and also provides connectivity to wagon workshop and CONCOR terminal.
Since inception, Juhi has witnessed a series of technological changes and has always adopted successfully to facilitate and providing ease to train operation. In 2011 RRI (Route Relay Interlocking) was converted into first largest electronic interlocking (Electronic Interlocking software based). Juhi commissioning showed a way to move forwards in big yards for adopting electronic interlocking all over Indian Railway.
Again, now Juhi is going to have one more change. This time this change is due to replacement of over-aged lever frames of Juhi A & B cabins by Electronic Interlocking. These lever frames are more than 90 years old and outlived their Codal life. For eliminating lever frames Pre-NI has started from 08.04.2022.
Today, during a traffic block, mechanical arrangements were removed at 6 points by providing point machines. Similarly, other points will be attended and Non-Interlocking of A & B Cabins will be taken on 13.04.2022. Juhi A cabin will witness a new electronic interlocking with 304 routes having 59 point machines, 42 main signals & 12 shunt signals.
Electronic interlocking of Juhi main’s cabin which involves massive software alterations is also planned, which will enable its interlocking with Juhi A cabin,  provision of intermediate block station (IBS) between Juhi-Bhimsen and further flexibilities for train operation.  Due to these changes existing 655 route Juhi electronic interlocking will now have 669 routes.
Once both installations are commissioned, Juhi will be a hub of electronic interlocking with approx having 1000 routes. Senior officer from NCR headquarter and Prayagaraj division are monitoring the work personally. They are executing the work as per plan.
With the completion of this work, the bottlenecks inhibiting speed upgradation will be removed. Enhanced flexibility in train operations at busy Juhi yard, will provide better mobility and upgraded safety standards.
