Arthroscopic surgery starts at Central Hospital Prayagraj

A new beginning...

Arthroscopic surgery starts at Central Hospital Prayagraj.
A young sportsman of 25 years who sustained knee injury and got his ligament torn underwent the ACL reconstruction surgery today at Central Hospital. Senior orthopaedic surgeon Dr. S.S. Nayak operated him using peroneal graft, thus repairing the torn knee ligament.
Arthroscopic surgery is a special technique in which an arthroscope is used instead of giving a cut and opening the operation site. The surgery involves no cut, no wound.
Anterior cruciate ligament(ACL) is one of the knee ligaments which get injured while sudden twisting movements. This injury is common in sportspersons especially football players and badminton players.
It is a special surgery. Till now, patients used to be referred. Now it will be done in-house which will be both economical to the Railways as well as convenient to the patients.
