Meeting about compliance of National Green Tribunal directives held at NCR headquarter
On 14.06.19 a meeting on compliance of National Green Tribunal directives over North Central Railway was held at headquarter office, Prayagraj. This meeting was chaired by Shri Rajiv Chaudhry, General Manager, North Central Railway and attended by Shri Kundar Kumar, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, Shri M.N.Ojha, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Shri A.K.Pandey, Chief Track Engineer, officers of Environment & Housekeeping and Commercial departments along with ADRMs from all the three divisions of NCR. Important items with respect to compliance of NGT directives were discussed and targets were fixed to achieve those in time bound manner.
Major items discussed during the meeting included, seeparation of bio degradable and non biodegradable waste. General Manager suggested that proximity censor based audio playing equipment can be tried out near public dustbins for better awareness among passengers.
He also advised that garbage collection bags should be bio-degradable and of separate colours. The need to use CCTVs installed at stations to check cleaning activity was emphasized during the meeting. It was informed that about 10 stations including Allahabd & Kanpur are already covered under CCTV and for 20 more stations work is underway.
During the discussion about provision of Bottle Crushing Machines on major stations, it was informed that procurement for about 20 machines covering 06 stations has already started.All major stations approaches are already covered under rag picking & General Manager advised to ensure regular arrangements regarding that.
He also emphasized to have anti littering display in all coaches of NCR. he further added that NCR will also undertake campaign against open defecation over railway area and tracks. The discussion about provision of more toilets on stations and circulating area also took place during the meeting. It was also informed during the meeting that all 1300 coaches of NCR shall be equipped with bio toilets within this year.
Shri Rajiv Chaudhry informed the gathering that massive plantation drive with the help of forest department is being undertaken. MOU for that has already been signed and plantation will start with first rains expected around 20th June. GM further advised further that water audit should be done by all three divisions for better management and conservation of water. He also emphasized on the need to have more Water recycling plants, Effluent Treatment Plants & Rain water harvesting on NCR. He also said that the automatic coach washing plant should be installed to save water. It was informed that the automatic coach washing plant for Kanpur and Agra Cantt has already been sanctioned and it is expected to get installed within this financial year.
General Manger further emphasized that we should use technology, innovation, mechanization to conserve water and directed that monthly progress of these important items on compliance of NGT directives
be monitored.
