Safety,Train operations during fog, Infrastructure development and punctuality position on NCR reviewed by General Manager Shri Rajiv Chaudhry.
A video conference of North Central Railway Headquarters held with Agra, Allahabad and Jhansi divisions. In the beginning of the video conference, General Manager North Central Railway Shri Rajiv Chaudhry along with principal head of departments reviewed the safety position on Agra, Allahabad and Jhansi divisions. At the outset General Manager Shri Chaudhry asked divisions to compile list of officials who are involved in repeated failure cases attributable to bad workmanship, their controlling supervisors and officers type of failures etc which will help in identification of root cause so as requisite inputs like training, change of posting place etc. can be planned in better way to avoid reoccurrence.
While reviewing safety position Shri Chaudhry said that approach areas near major stations be ambush checked to identify cases of unloading of un-booked luggage etc. which not only cause detention to trains but can also be a potential safety threat due to obstruction to movement of train by unloaded goods. General Manager Sri Chaudhry also expressed concern on safety of railway staff working on running lines and instructed divisions that prescribed personal protective equipment must be ensured for all categories of staff and immediate supervisor shall be responsible to ensure that staff are allowed to work only with proper PPEs.He said that each life is precious and work site safety must be ensured at all costs. He further stressed that removal of manned level crossing is focus area for railway and construction of Limited Height Subways must be taken up in mission mode.
Further in the meeting progress of installing Hot box detectors was reviewed, General Manager advised that sanctioned works for way side rolling stock monitoring systems needs to be executed on priority.It was further discussed that rationalization of duty hours to crew is of prime concern and all effort should be made to call crew as per actual running of train to avoid prolonged waiting and duty hours for crew.
On reviewing progress of infrastructural works General Manager expressed satisfaction on progress of Govindpuri Electronic Interlocking work.Once commissioned it will pave the way for two new platforms at Govindpuri station and many other facilities which will help to start trains from Govindpuri stations as satellite station to de-congest Kanpur station. General Manager further emphasised that operation with electric locomotives needs to be stepped up in newly electrified section of Chunar - Chopan.
Master plan for development of Allahabad station was also discussed during the review meeting.General Manager desired that it should include all requisite train movement and passenger facilities to cater future needs.Besides Allahabad NCR is also finalizing master plan for Khajuraho, Gwalior and some other major stations of NCR to make stations, yards and other facilities future ready to handle enhanced traffic handling requirements. While reviewing punctuality performance it was decided that regular bad runners need to be monitored closely which will help in overall improved punctuality performance. GM Sri Chaudhry said that proper logging and analysis of each punctuality loss cases which will help in planning proper inputs and increased sensitivity among train operating staff. on review of Magh Mela preparedness, DRM Allahabad assured that all identified works are progressing well and shall be completed on time. GM stressed that all works related to Magh Mela be monitored on real time basis and completed by end of this month.
