GM North Central Railway reviews Magh mela Preparedness Magh mela 2020 final preparedness review meeting held at NCR HQ on 08.01.19. This meeting chaired by GM NCR Sri Rajiv Chaudhry was attended by all principal head of departments and DRM Allahabad and branch officers from Allahabad division. In the beginning a presentation covering status of preparedness was made by ADRM Allahabad division Sri Anurag GUPTA. Plan for regulation of traffic regarding restriction on entry from civil lines side at Allahabad Jn station has already been finalised in consultation with state GOVT administration. Similarly traffic plan for Naini, Allahabad Chheoki,Subedarganj are also finalised in consultation with state officials. Taking cue from Successful conduct of Kumbh 2019 where close coordination among various agencies , this year too a series of coordination meetings were done between Railway and state authorities have been done for finalisation of traffic plan , hold plan for passengers and contingency plan. Presentation made by ADRM Allahabad also also covered infrastructural works completed related to Magh Mela -2020. Some of the important works completed for Magh Mela are : 1.Washable apron on platform No. 03 of Allahabad station. 2.Additional landing ramp on Linshah Baba FOB at Allahabad to facilitate movement from all passenger shelters. 3.Connectivity of public FOB with Allahabad station first floor building for ease of passengers and to tackle any emergency. 4.Boundary wall work completed at Subedarganj station on south side. 5.Platform No. 01 constructed at Allahabad Chheoki station. 6.Balance building work of Allahabad Chheoki station ground floor completed. 7.Naini station enclosure no. 01 left over work completed. Presentation from division also covered accommodation plan for staff , supervisors and officers coming from out station to assist in smooth conduct of Magh Mela 2020. DRM Allahabad assured HQ that adequate arrangements for comfortable stay has already been made. North Central Railway has also effected many commercial and operational improvements for better experience to passengers and faster evacuation of pilgrims from Jn. and other stations. Some of the important steps taken during Magh mela period are : 1.Mela area ticket counter has been made and shall be operational w.e.f. 09.01.20. 2.Mobile electronic ticketing machines are being deployed in mela and station area for ease of passengers. For the first time METM shall be deployed in road vehicle in mela area as well as important location of city to cover maximum passengers. 3.Additional rakes have been made available to run timetabled and requirement based mela special trains. 4.Extensive arrangement for signages and announcement has been made to guide passengers to correct station from mela area itself to avoid any unnecessary crowd build up at Allahabad Jn. as well as other stations. 5.Staff, Supervisor & Officers are being provided with retro reflective jackets with identification as mela rail sewak for ease of identification by passengers. 6.Rationalization of passenger enclosure with FOB and platform has been done to ensure minimal movement of passenger for catching particular direction train. 7.Adequate no. of ambulances, rapid action teams, fire fighting arrangements etc. are put in place to meet any unforeseen situation. 8.Comprehensive communication arrangement including backup and common frequency VHF are provided for seamless and hassle free communication. 9.Magh Mela 2020 mobile app. for providing required information to pilgrims has already been made and shall be available for downloading from google play store w.e.f. 09.01.20. 10.Mock drills to handle any emergency situation have been done. 11.Parcel unloading and booking from Allahabad jn. is restricted on D-1 to D+1 for all major bathing days. GM Sri Chaudhry advised that regulation of goods trains must be done by division on bathing days to ensure that spare capacity is available in the system to run additional mela special trains in case of any unforeseen requirement. coordination with adjoining railways and state government, North Central Railway has also made a plan for segregation of directional passengers from mela area itself through signages and announcement to guide passenger to desired station.
