Video conference on safety, infrastructure creation, and other important issues conducted in NCR Headquarters
North Central railway Headquarters reviewed safety, infrastructure creation and other important issues in video conference with divisions. In the video conference chaired by General Manager North Central Railway Sri Rajiv Chaudhry , safety in train operations was taken up as first item for review.
Despite substantial technological advancement in maintenance of rolling stock bearing, hot axle do occurs at times in runningtrains. Conventional methods of identifying hot bearing in trains are through vigilant Railway staff entrusted with train passing at stations, rolling in examination points, gates etc. Besides this conventional system Indian Railways is also introducing automated wayside rolling stock monitoring system like Hot box detector, online Rolling stock monitoring system etc and NCR is pioneer in installation of such system.To further strengthen our system and reduce response time in hot axlecases, GM Sri Chaudhry instructed that handheld VHF sets be given to station staff to inform guard of train to stop immediately in case defective bearing is noticed by train passing staff at stations. Conventionally stations are equipped with high capacity VHF set which is fixed inside ASM’s room. Providing small handheld VHF set will save time as train passing staff can immediately communicate with crew of the train without need of going back inside ASM room.
Safe train operation during foggy weather is always accorded highest priority on North Central Railway. Correct calling out of signal by both crew members i.e. loco pilot and assistant loco pilot is one of the most important time tested and established safety system on Indian Railways which mitigate any possibility of missing any signal or misreading correct aspect of any signal. Compliance of calling out of signal by crew is regularly checked by officials going on footplate inspections and crew iscounseledperiodically for calling out signal loudly. To check100% compliance on correct and loud calling out of signal by crew, NCR has planned to provide voice recorder on locomotives and trial scale provision has already started on Allahabad division.
Reviewing infrastructure GM advised that after opening of Bhaupur connectivity in Bhaupur –Khurja section of DFC, we shall have to target Rly connectivity works in Kanpur- Pt.DeenDayal Upadhyay Jn. as DFC line in this section is targeted for commissioning in next one year. NCR is also providing seamless operation theatre at central hospital Prayagraj. Seamless OT is a completely sterilized and controlled environment for providing complete hygienic condition for doing critical surgeries. This facility will be beneficial for 60000 railwaymen and their families.
GM also desired that necessary works required towards up-gradation of good sheds needs to be identified and requisite inputs are given on priority. GM said that works in Goods shed should include works related to pollution control.
