North Central Railway to complete Isolation Coach modification Work before 14.04.20. Efforts to contain spread of COVID-19 and running of essential goods & parcel services continues
Experience gained during lockdown which has already reached in second week is being effectively used on North Central Railway to better its essential goods services and other efforts against Corona virus. To make this happen regular review of all items related to COVID-19 containment and essential goods transportation is being done at level of General Manager Sri Rajiv Chaudhry, Principal Head of Departments, DRMs and other Sr officials from North Central and Northern Railway. Officers from divisions and HQ are also holding regular dialogues with front line staff to assess ground condition as well as a morale building exercise. Some of the important items reviewed on 02.04.20 w.r.t. North Central Railway are as under:
1.NCR has already started the modification work on coaches to convert it as Isolation coaches.Railway board has given target of 290 coach conversion to NCR and plan of action is already drawn to complete this work before 14.04.20 so as manpower and other resources are available for passenger services which is scheduled to resume since 00 hrs of 15.04.20. Division and coaching depot wise target for conversion is as under:

2.Besides conversions to isolation coaches, Indian railway is also working on operation, manning, sanitation, services and other Protocols for use of these isolation facility on wheel. Further list of stations is also being worked out having facility for coach watering, electrical charging facility for coach, proper road approach etc. so as stabling locations can be decided for these Isolation rakes in consultation with Ministry of Health and state authorities . 3.A watch on booking passenger booking pattern is being kept for booking beyond 12 am or 00 hrsof 15.04.20 to assess direction wise demand, waitlist position etc . GM Sri Rajiv Chaudhry said that a detailed meeting will be held early next week to firm up our strategy to resume passenger services in safe, smooth and efficient manner once lockdown is over.
4.Besides performing professional duties railway employees are also leading the way in social and financial contribution in this time of need. RPF of North Central Railway continuing the good work has been providing food to more than 1100 needy persons on daily basisfrom 28.03.20 which will further gain steam as IRCTC run kitchen at Prayagraj joining this initiative with 200 meals per day since 01.04.20.
