Serving Humanity- North Central Railway Medical services at forefront in fight against Covid-19
With limited knowledge on Novel Corona Virus and pandemic of this magnitude medical fraternity of North Central Railway had challenge to learn and prepare itself to fight against Covid-19 and also to sustain regular medical attention for about 60000 railway employees, their family members and other beneficiaries of Railway medical services. North Central Railway medical department responded to the situation quickly and more than 525 formal and informal training programs on Information Education and Communication (IEC) and sanitisations were organized for doctors, nursing, para medical and other staff besides augmenting resources to fight Covid-19.
A dashboard for medical items required to fight Covid-19 pandemic is operational since start of pandemic for monitoring daily availability of PPE kits, 3 ply mask, N 95 mask, medical gloves, shoe covers, googles, face shield, oxygen cylinders, sanitizer etc. online portal isbeing used for daily monitoring of Railway employees with Covid-19 symptoms through medical check-up in all three divisional hospitals and central hospital Prayagraj in 05 separate clinics set for this purpose. As on 24.07.20 more than 9250 Railway employees, their family members and other beneficiaries of railway medical facilities have been screened in these clinics to safeguard our workforce from Covid-19. Daily basis monitoring on use of quarantine beds is also being done through online portal . As on 24.07.20, 619 quarantine beds are available at different locations over NCRand 78 persons including 03 railway employees are being served in these facilities .
100 beds Level one Covid care facilities are now fully functional at Central Hospital Prayagraj and Jhansi Railway Hospital. As on 24.07.20 total admission in level one facility of Prayagrajstands at 86 of which 05 patients were referred to other hospitals , one was sent for home isolation and 35 were discharged after successful treatment. Likewise, total admission in Jhansi level one Covid hospital till 24.07.20 is 75 of which one patient referred to other hospital, 29 sent for home/ hotel isolation and 45 are being treated currently.
