Other Important Safety Activities
- Night & footplate inspection by officers – Night inspection and footplate inspections at officers’ level are regularly being conducted and position is being sent to CSO/NCR every month. Summary of Night footplate inspections and other night inspections conducted in the year 2019-20 is as below –

- Distribution of Posters & Pamphlets–Posters and pamphlets illustrating precautions to be taken by rail-road users are being distributed at different places like villages, bazaars, LC gates, schools etc. In the year 2019-20, almost 4100 posters & pamphlets have been distributed.
- Ambush Checks - Ambush checks are being conducted at LC gates, IBHs and stations for checking alertness amongst loco crew, guards and train passing staff.
- Availability of infrastructure - LC gates of the division are being inspected by Safety department for checking availability of infrastructure facilities at LC gates. Shortcomings noticed have been advised to concerned branches for taking corrective actions.
- Awareness campaign through Mobile Video Van – In order to spread awareness amongst rail road users regarding safety precautions to be taken while crossing unmanned and manned LC gates, prevention of carriage of inflammable materials in train, prevention of cattle run over cases, prevention of roof top travelling in trains etc., awareness campaign through mobile video van has been conducted in the division from 27-07-19 to 16-08-19 in GWL-DHO, GWL-BIX, GWL local and in JHS-GWL, JHS-LAR, LAR-BINA, JHS local, JHS-OR, OR-BZM, GTM-BNDA, BNDA-MBA & BNDA-MKP sections.
- Nukkad Natak – On various aspects of safety precautions to be taken by rail road users, Nukkad natakas were organized on 18-10-19, on 31-10-19 on the eve of birth day of Sardar Ballav Bhai Patel, from 26-11-19 to 28-11-19, on 24-12-19 at BAB railway station, on 26-12-19 at TBT and at various LCs, petrol pumps, LC, schools, railway stations, bazaars, villages, colleges and in DRM office premises.
- Mock Drill – Mock drill was conducted on 20-11-19 at Bamorgaon station KM 1243/6-7 for dashing of truck with engine of train no. 5217, on 29-11-19 in DRM office premises and on 02-12-19 at Railway station JHS to educate about dos and don’ts in case of fire.
- Safety Seminar:Safety seminars have been held regularly every month at different stations on the division for creating safety awareness & counselling of staff regarding instructions issued by the Railway Board and HQ in reference to recent accidents, dos & don’ts, safety precautions etc. In the year 2019-20, safety seminars have been conducted as given below –

- Safety Drives – For checking alertness of staff and to counsel them regarding procedures to be followed on various aspects of train operation, regular safety drives have been launched in the division. In the year 2019-20, total 21 safety drives have been issued covering important aspects of train working and safety.
- Awards - In order to encourage the staff to be vigilant and safety conscious, provision of award has been made. In the year 2019-20, a total of Rs. 22,000/- has been distributed as cash award to staff for detecting and reporting unusuals, which are potentially dangerous from accident point of view.
