There are total 1246 BG coaches based on NCR with primary maintenance activities under taken at Allahabad, Kanpur, Agra, Mathura, Agra fort Gwalior, Jhansi and Khajuraho Depots. POH of BG coaches based on NCR is carried out at Alambagh, Jagadhari, Gorakhpur and Ajmer workshops. Besides, 75 NG coaches are also based over JHS division.

Maintenance Practices of coaching stock:
Pest & Rodent control | Contacts for Pest & Rodent control of all major depots (ALD, CNB, JHS, GWL, AGC, AF & MTJ) are presently going on as per guidelines of Railway Board. |
Mechanized cleaning of coaches on Puri pattern | In practice at all major depots – ALD, CNB, JHS, GWL, AGC & AF & MTJ. |
Clean Train Station | Contract is going on at ALD (44 trains) and CNB (30 trains) stations. Contract is under renewal at JHS. |
On Board Housekeeping Services (Train No.) | OBHS scheme is running in 10 trains of NCR:- 1.Train no 14113/14 ALD-DDN, 2.Train no 12033/34 CNB-NDLS 3. Train no 14115/16 ALD-HW, 4. Mechanized Laundry | Setting up of mechanized laundry at GWL (2T) has been sanctioned through departmental route under PH-53 PWP 2014-15. The laundry is planned to be set up by June’15. A 4T Mechanized laundry at ALD is planned to be processed under PH-53 in PWP 2015-16. |
Own Your Trains System (OYTS) | As per guidelines of Railway Board, 23 mail /express train of NC Railway are allotted to SAG and JAG officers for monthly inspection in respect of Cleanliness and hygiene and passenger amenities. OYTS Reports of officers are analyzed and sent to divisions for corrective measures. |
Freight
Freight Stock Maintenance Activities:
ROH activities of wagons are under taken at GMC, Baad and JHS depot. Requirement of wheels for freight stock of all divisions are met by JHSW.
GMC depot is nominated depot for ROH of BLC, BCN & ERU wagons. Baad depot is nominated depot for ROH of BTPN wagons. JHS ROH depot is primarily nominated for ROH of military stock. Container rakes (BLC wagons) are being examined on CC pattern at ICD GMC, ICD/DER, ICD/KLPL/Panki and ARIL Khurja in Allahabad Division, with BPC valid for 6000 kms/30 days.BTPN wagons are being examined on CC pattern at Baad depot in Agra division with BPC valid for 6000 kms/30 days.

iii.Adoption of Bio-toilet technology by NCR:
279 coaches with 747 bio-toilets are running successfully over NCR. Largely based on the success of the pilot project at GWL , Railway Board have decided to proliferate this technology over IR.
iv. Implementation of FMM Project at ICD/Dadri:
ERP enabled FMM project has successfully been implemented at ICD/Dadri. Dadri depot received SAP ACE Award in category “Best Run in Innovative Use of SAP” jointly with CRIS.
v.Coach cleaning activity:
Mechanized coach cleaning is going on all major depots i.e. ALD, CNB, JHS, GWL, AGC AF &MTJ,Pest and Rodent Control in coaches, washing pit and depot premises-All the depots covered.CTS Contract is going on at ALD (44 trains) and CNB (30 trains)stations. Contract is under renewal at JHS.
vi. Infrastructure Improvement:
1. Commissioning of :
·Second washing pit at NCC/CNB and second washing pit at AGC.
·Sick line AGC
·Train examination facility at Baad
·ROH facility at Baad.
2. Provision of standard Rolling in lights with huts at AF , AGC and Rolling in lights at CNB.
vii. Improvement in maintenance practices:
a)To reduce train parting cases due to uncoupling, a JPO has been issued vide this office L No. HQ/NCR/Mech/820-I,dated:12.07.2012. In addition to above following action has also been taken:-
§100% testing of knuckle by DPT during ROH.
§100% gauging of CBC component in ROH.
§100% testing of operating handle on fixture in ROH.
b)To avoid hitting cases of wagon doors during run, proper closing and securing of wagon doors at loading/unloading points over NCR is being ensured.
c)To minimize brake binding cases, following action has been taken:-
·Provision of air dryer with all compressors installed at all C&W depots.
·Ensuring Piston stroke, DV functionality and draining of AR during Primary Maintenance.
·Thorough RTR testing of rakes.
d)Sensitization of crew, station staff for manual releasing of brakes at the time of traction change/loco reversal and attachment/detachment of coach/wagons.
