NORTH CENTRAL RAILWAY

(A) Passenger Carrying Trains at a Glance:

852 Mail/Express (408.56 Avg./day) & 188 Passenger (186 Avg./day) trains  are scheduled to run over North Central Railway system.

90.20% Mail/Exp trains are running at 130 Kmph speed over both trunk routes DDU-GZB & BINA-PWL section.

Out of 50 Rajdhani trains  running over Indian Railways, North Central Railway operates 42 Rajdhani trains (22.30 Avg./day) i.e. 84%.

Schedule average speed of Mail/Express trains is 64.59 kmph which is the highest amongst all zonal railways.

(B) Prestigious trains:

(1) 12049/12050 Nizamuddin-Virangana Laxmibai Jhansi “Gatimaan” Exp (6 days) 

(2) 12001/12002 New Delhi-Rani Kamalapati “Shatabdi” Express (Daily) 

(3) 22435/22436 New Delhi-Varanasi “Vande Bharat” Express (6 days)is the first Vande Bharat train introduced over Indian Railway with an average speed of 104 kmph over North Central Railway.

(4) 20171/20172 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Rani Kamlapati “Vande Bharat” Express (6 days) is the second Vande Bharat train introduced over Indian Railway with an average speed of 92.05 kmph over North Central Railway.

(5)  22415/22416 Banaras-New Delhi “Vande Bharat” Express (6 days) is  introduced over Indian Railway with an average speed of 102 kmph over North Central Railway.

(6) 22425/22426 Ayodhya Cantt.-Anand ViharTerminal “Vande Bharat” Express (6 days) is  introduced over Indian Railway with an average speed of 92 kmph over North Central Railway.

(7)  22469/22470 Khajuraho -Hazrat Nizamuddin “Vande Bharat” Express (6 days) is  introduced over Indian Railway with an average speed of 79 kmph over North Central Railway.

(8) 12417/12418 Prayagraj – New Delhi “Prayagraj” Express (Daily) is the longest passenger carrying train running with 24 LHB coach over Indian Railway with speed of 130 kmph.

(9) 12275/12276 Prayagraj-New Delhi and 22437/22438 Prayagraj-Anand Vihar “Humsafar” Express (Daily) is the first ever train over Indian Railway to introduce sleeper coaches in Humsafar category of trains.

(10) 12403/12404 & 20403/20404 Prayagraj-Bikaner “Superfast” Express (Daily) is the first ever train over Indian Railway to introduce 3AC Economy coaches.

(11) 22221/22222 Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Nizamuddin “Rajdhani” Express (Daily) is the first Rajdhani over Indian Railway running with push-pull mode of locomotives.

(12) 20981/20982 Udaipur-Agra Cantt. “Vande Bharat” Express (Tri-weekly)

(13) 20176/20175 Agra Cantt.- Banaras “Vande Bharat” Express (6 days)

Augmentation of T.No. 20176/75 (AGC-BSBS) Vande Bharat services from 8 Cars to 16 Cars w.e.f. 29.05.25.

(C) Special trains (TODs):

In addition to scheduled Mail/Express and passenger trains, several special trains  also run on different occasions viz. festival, summer, winter, pilgrim mela, recruitment, etc.

2023-24 - 7653 Trips (20.91 Avg./day)

2024-25 - 14654 Trips (40.04 Avg./day)

(Apr-July)' 2025-26 - 5765 Trips  (47.25 Avg./day)

(D) Charted trains:

Charted Tourist trains (Palace On Wheel, Maharaja, Deccan Oddessy, Buddhist, Ramayan Circuit, Bharat Gaurav, etc) are also run on the basis of demand.

(E) Aastha Special trains:- 444 Trips 

(F) Total no. of special trains run during Maha Kumbh Mela-2025 5216 

(G) New Train :  Apr-July' 2025 - 05 Pair
