Other Important Safety Activities

  1. Safety Drive– For checking alertness of staff and to counsel them regarding procedures to be followed on various aspects of train operation, regular safety drives including Mega Safety Drives have been launched in the division.  In the year 2023-24 (till date), 06 safety drives have been issued covering important aspects of train working and safety during which 1018 counseling has been done.
  2. Safety Seminar - Safety seminars have been held at different stations on the division for creating safety awareness & counselling of staff regarding instructions issued by the Railway Board and HQ in reference to recent accidents and dos & don’ts. In the year 2023-24, safety seminars have been conducted at GTM, GWL, LAR, MRPR, VGLJ, OR, BNDA, DAA, TBT, BZM, JHS/W, BAB, CKTD, ORAI, KURJ, KPI and CGN stations. Recently, it has been organized on daily basis in the first fortnight last month with special emphasis on strict observance of safety norms in train operation.
  1. Internal Safety Audit – On 26 & 27th July 2023, internal safety audit by SAG safety audit team of NCR has been conducted in JHS area and in LAR-AGD section of JHS division.
  2. Night inspection by officers – From the period April to June 2023, total524 nos.night inspections at officers’ level have been conducted. Deficiencies noticed have been forwarded to concerned BOs for corrective action.
  3. Distribution of Posters & Pamphlets – Posters and pamphlets illustrating precautions to be taken by rail-road users are being distributed at different places like villages, bazaars, LC gates, schools etc. On the eve of international Awareness Day in the month of June 2023, large number of posters & pamphlets have been distributed. As of now, almost 6374 posters & pamphlets have been distributed.
  4. Training of Staff - A training program has also been organized to educate and counsel the railway staff and the contractor staff to follow the laid down procedures while working at the worksites. Total, 497 certificates have also been awarded to the trainees.
  5. NukkadNatak – Nukkadnatak are regularly organized. On the eve of International Level Crossing Awareness Day on 15-06-23, nukkadnataks were organized on various aspects of safety precautions to be taken by rail road users. In the year 2023-24, 06nukkadnatakshave been organized.
  1. Counseling through Mobile Video Van - Audio-visual counselling has also been done through Mobile Video Van throughout the division at different places like railway stations, bazars, bus stands, schools and villages so as to make the common people aware and vigilant regarding safe use of railway services.
  1. Ambush Checks - Ambush checks are being conducted at LC gates, IBHs and stations for checking alertness amongst loco crew, guards and train passing staff.

  1. Availability of infrastructure - LC gates of the division are being inspected by Safety department for checking availability of infrastructure facilities at LC gates. Shortcomings noticed have been advised to concerned branches for taking corrective actions
  1. Award - In order to encourage the railway staff, cash award have been regularly awarded to the staff who have detected unusual in the running trains or in the railway asset and have shown vigilance towards their duty and have prevented the incidence. In the year 2023-24 (till date) Rs. 23,500/- have been awarded as cash award.
