Narrow Gauge

 

There is one Narrow Gauge Depot in the Division. The train operation in GWO – SOE section has been closed due to gauge conversion. The following C&W stocks are available.

 

Wagons =15 Nos. (recommended for condemnation being overage).

 

Coaches =54 Nos. (29 coaches recommended for condemnation being overage. 23 coaches to be offered for heritage to other Railways. 2 coaches (RA & CD) will be used as heritage in division).

5.MECHANIZED LAUNDRY AT GWL

 

To provide washed and good quality linen to passenger, a mechanized laundry capacity 1 ton per shift has been started from 03.11.2016 at Gwalior. All trains originating from GWL are covered.

There is only one Freight Depot in the Division at Jhansi

  1. ROH of wagon (Defence wagon, Departmental, BCN etc.)

9.IMPORTANT HIGHLIGTS/ACHIVEEMTNS

1.

Functionability of fire detection system

A survey was conducted for checking functionality of fire detection system fitted in 69 AC coaches over Jhansi Division (JHS = 21, GWL = 39).

During the survey following discrepancies observed : -

The status of non-functionability of FDS system has been apprised to firm for early rectification of FDS system. Same has been apprised to RDSO also.

2.

Gauges purchased for ROH

Mounted end play/lateral play is a critical parameter for bearing performance directly affecting the fatigue life of the bearing.Same needs to the checked & recorded during ROH of wagons. Hencemagnetic dial indicator has been procured for checking of CTRB mount play along with other gauges for checking different attributes ofbearing adapter byWagon Repair Depot, Jhansi. The details are as under: -

On procurement of these gauges the quality of ROH turn out wagons has to be improved.

3.

Alteration of air suspension and FIBA pipe line

Vide L. No. MD21561, dated 17.02.2021, RCF has circulated coach alteration instruction to avoid failure in piping arrangement of air suspension and FIBA. Presently 23 Nos. coaches(18 GWL based & 5 Jhs based) running in Division have been identified for modification. For implementation of alteration instruction Jhansi Division has issued LOA for the work of modification on 30.05.2022. The TDC of the work is 29.08.2022.

4.

Operation of Laundry at GWL

Tender for operation and comprehensive maintenance of mechanized laundry machines and ETP at laundry premises Gwalior and distribution of linen in AC coaches of trains originating from Gwalior for a period of one year has been awarded to M/s Peyush Traders, Thane on 15.05.2022 at the total cost of Rs.3.49 crore.

The washed linen of GWL laundry are being provided in trains as follows –

Seminar on Wheel Slide Protection Device and FIBA

For creating awareness regarding working and trouble shooting of WSP and FIBA during routine maintenance and enroute attention, a seminar was organized in BTC/C&W/JHS on 24.06.2022. In this meeting the representative of M/s Knorr Bremse, gave a brief overview of the various components of WSP system, different fault codes and their interpretation & troubleshooting procedure to adopted by Maintenance personnel. In this seminar, around 35 C&W maintenance staff participated. During seminar representative of M/s Knorr Bremse cleared the doubt of staff facing trouble during maintenance.

Safety Drive

In past one month a number of cases of poor brake power in freight trains has been reported in Jhansi Division. Few of these rakes were departmental BOBYN wagons which are maintained at Jhansi goods yards. Taking cognizance of issue a 30 days drive to Super check the goods train is being conducting for examination of Air brake testing in goods yard from 22.06.2022 to 21.07.2022. Till date 09 Nos. freight trains originating from VGLB Yard were checked. During super check a total of 46 Nos. wagons have been identified with defective Distributor Valves or associate air brake fittings. Same were attended during examination or in sick line.

Coach Alteration of air suspension and FIBA pipe line

Vide L. No. MD21561, dated 17.02.2021, RCF has circulated coach alteration instruction to avoid failure in piping arrangement of air suspension and FIBA. The work of modification has been awarded to M/sSigma Ad World, Allahabad on quotation for 23 coaches. Modification in air brake pipe line in 2 Nos. coaches i.e. NC 191966 LWSCN and NC 182487 LWSCN have been completed by Gwalior depot.

6.

Training of staff

(i)Vide L. No. MW/WAD/CTRB/GENL, dated 15.03.22 RDSO has recommended the practices to control the cases of Hot axles online during ROH and yard examination of freight stock. In this regard 30 staff of ROH depot and Sick Line, Jhansi were counseled by CWI/Freight and CI/BTC/C&W. During the counseling the defects and its remedies of CTRB were discussed.

(ii)Train No.12533 was detained at BZM station on 16/17.06.2022, due to FIBA actuation. Even though air springs had not deflated, nor there was any leakage in the air brake pipelines indicating intermittent malfunction of FIBA device. Crew took a considerable time to clear the fault & processes further. So, avoid such enroute detention 3 days jointly training programme for LHB coach, resetting of ACP, FIBA, CBC coupling in LHB coaches was conducted in association with operating department. In this training Sr. Supervisor of C&W gave the on job training to Guards who work with LHB trains. A total of 168 guards have been counseled.

10.Innovation

1.

APD Device

On date 24.04.22, 01.05.22 & 08.05.22, train No. 11123/24 was detained enroute on account of AR drain cock loose/open. On investigation in washing line Gwalior depot one of the reason found was that the AR drain cock cover was not provided in the affected coaches. In this regard Gwalior Coaching Depot has launch a drive to provide AR drain cock cover (APD) in coaches. Till date AR drain cock cover provided in 13 coaches and same will be provided in rest 8 coaches by 07.06.2022

2.

Adopter bore gauge

Improper chordal radius of bearing adapter causes point loading on the bearing and results inaccelerated fatigue damage of the bearing. To weed out such defective adapters during routine maintenance a adapter bore gauge has been fabricated in house.

12.ASSISTANCE REQUIRED

 

i.The post of ADME/BNDA is vacant since long. The post of ADME/BNDA may be filled up at the earliest to look after the C&W activity in BNDA – MBA – KURJ section and at KURJ depot.

ii.In view of increase of trains from KURJ and GWL, coaching complex are required at these places. Conceptual master plans for Gwalior and Khajuraho are sent to HQ for approval. It may be expedited.
